One Club Creativity Lunar New Year Contest

Was one of the winners of the OCC’S Lunar Poster Design Competition. We were invited to create an artwork inspired by the Chinese Lunar New Year, celebrating the Year of the Snake.

The Story:

This artwork marks the start of my journey through 2025, a transformative year that beckons with endless possibilities. Very much like a serpent shedding its antiquated skin. I deep dove into uncharted territory – symbolised by the flowing water out of which the serpent emerges, renewed. The lanterns serve as beacons of my guiding principles: the first glows with the warm light of intuition, the second burns with the collective wisdom and support of the people I trust, and the third radiates the energy of perpetual growth. The piece pays homage to traditional Japanese artistry, where every detail tells a story. Intricate patterns interweave throughout the composition, symbolising how each small moment of courage contributed to this larger transformation. Chose some of my favourite colours with pops of traditional lunar red and golden.

I have a long way to go and it’s every bit as scary, but a message that I would like to pass along this new year is to trust your gut people, and know that you’re meant for nothing less than greatness. It’s only delusional, until it works :)
